How it all began…

 

1935

 
Toni Wyss
The ski school at Kleine Scheidegg is founded in 1935. Fritz Steuri † is the first head teacher. .

1955

Fritz Steuri, who is also a mountain climbing guide, loses his life in a climbing accident. Marcel von Allmen † takes over as the head of the ski school.
 

1965

In summer of 1965 Scheidegg ski teachers Charly Jung and Hansueli Weissmuller † go for the first time to Queensland, New Zealand, and give ski lessons there.
 

1975

After 20 years as head of the ski school, Marcel von Allmen † gives leadership of the ski school to Toni Wyss. Toni and his parents have worked for years now on Kleine Scheidegg running their sport and souvenir store.
 

1978

The ski school office is moved from the Bellevue des Alpes into the sports store.
 

1988

After a landslide, the north part of the building must be rebuilt and a new foundation is necessary. More space is now available and a meeting room for staff and ski instructors is added.
 

2000

In 2000 Ruth Geissbuhler takes over as the head snowboard instructor and Marc Stamm as the head ski instructor. Toni still gives lessons in both.
 

2007

 
Stefan Rubin takes over as the head ski and telemark instructor. Ruth Geissbuhler is still the head Snowboard instructor and Toni still gives lessons.

The Swiss Ski School of Kleine Scheidegg had and still has popular and well known ski teachers. Some of the best known:
Fritz Steuri, multiple Swiss national ski and ski jump champion.

Arnold Glatthard, multiple Swiss national ski champion, head of canton Berns ski teachers development.

Willy Steuri, Arlberg-Kandahar and Lauberhorn winner.

Marcel von Allmen, multiple Lauberhorn combination winner. Also started summer skiing on the Junfraujoch.

Ruedi Graf, multiple Lauberhorn downhill and combination winner.

Roland Urban, mountain climbing guide.

Alfred Zurschmiede, member of the Swiss national ski team, mountain climbing guide and later head of the Swiss Ski School Lauterbrunnen.

Hilti von Allmen, climbed the Eiger north face and the first person to climb the north face of the Matterhorn in winter.

Charly Jung, besides one break, ski teacher at Kleine Scheidegg since 1962.

Hansueli  "Johnny" Weissmüller

Bruno Kohler, mountain climbing guide and later head of the Swiss Ski School Hasliberg.

René Berthod, Swiss national champion in the downhill in Pontresina, 1974, 2nd place in the Hahnenkamm downhill in Kitzbühel 1977. Now a hotelier in Wengen, at Hotel Schönegg.

Felicity Field "Bunny", ski racer from England. Teaching at the Ski School Kleine Scheidegg since 1985. She came in 6th place in the downhill at the 1968 Olympics.

Ulrich Bohren "Blätz", Swiss national champion for paragliding. Now runs the Grindelwald Paragliding school.

Ruth Geissbühler, Snowboard and children's ski teacher at Kleine Scheidegg Ski School since 1990.

Marc Stamm, skiing and telemark instructor since 1998.

Stefan Rubin, Ski and children’s ski teacher at Kleine Scheidegg Ski School since 1990.

Toni Wyss, ski teacher since 1966. Head ski teacher since 1975 and still to this day!
